Airport Car Parking
|
Some of the larger airports in the United Kingdom and internationally have such sprawling complexes that their car-parks are situated a fair distance from the terminal (or terminals). While this can be frustrating if you are in a hurry or have heavy luggage, there is usually a way to get around the problem.
Airports that use multi-level car parks should be required by law to have elevators or escalators installed, or at the very least level walk-ways or ramps that allow you to get up and down the storeys with ease. If you are carrying heavy luggage it may also be worth hiring a trolley - most car-parks keep a rank of trolleys stationed at their exit. If the car-park is situated within the airport complex, it may have an air-bridge or walk-way that connects it directly to the terminal, eliminating the need for you to cross roads or negotiate uneven terrain with your luggage. If the car-park is further away from the terminal or is not run by the airport authority, you may need to make use of the public transportation facilities on offer - usually a shuttle bus service or a subway or train system.
It's important that you remember to give yourself enough time to find a park and get to the terminal - depending on how far away the parking complex is, it could take upwards of ten minutes to get into the terminal. To avoid being late or missing your check-in, always leave yourself with a bit of time up your sleeve!
